Example ChatGPT response: Check the requirements for obtaining a driving licence. Then choose a driving school, enrol in a course and prepare for the test.

Choosing equipment for work. Planning a renovation. Comparing training courses. In these conversations, people describe their needs, budget and decision criteria.
Your brand can appear before a customer decides which offer to choose.
We create ads around product use cases and the questions your audience asks.
We measure the interest and on-site actions generated by this channel.
We learn about your offer, audience and goals. We select the products or services for the first test and agree on evaluation criteria.
We help set up the advertising account, campaign structure, budget and available audience-matching options.
We create headlines, descriptions and visual assets. We test different benefits and use cases for your offer.
We make sure the page expands on the ad promise, answers customer questions and makes it easy to buy or get in touch.
We agree which actions to measure: a purchase, form submission or sign-up. We configure tracking within the agreed scope.
We analyse results, control spend and test changes. We report performance and recommend the next steps.
Results reported by US advertiser Newegg, not ChatGPT AI ADS. These are two different measurement periods, not a US average or a forecast for Poland. ROAS is attributed revenue divided by media spend; it does not represent profit.
Talk to a specialistExperiences shared by early ChatGPT Ads advertisers and published by OpenAI.
“We want Newegg to be part of the conversation when someone is researching products to buy. Our presence in ChatGPT helps us capture interest at that moment.”

“Consumers increasingly use platforms such as ChatGPT to research and make decisions, so it is important for us to reach them and help them discover the latest technology. The early results are encouraging and show this can be an efficient way to connect with customers.”

“As an early partner in the ChatGPT ads pilot, we were able to test and learn in a new environment that brings discovery, research and shopping together. It gives us valuable insight into customer behaviour and has produced promising early results.”

“Most of the traffic generated by ChatGPT came from new visitors, which fits its discovery-oriented use. This is an encouraging early sign that the platform can reach customers who are not yet part of our ecosystem.”
Ads appear below ChatGPT responses. They include the advertiser name, headline, description, image and a link to the website.
We create a consistent journey from a relevant message to a page that helps the customer take the next step.

Ads are paid messages displayed below a ChatGPT response, visually separated from it and labelled as sponsored. A typical ad includes the advertiser’s name and logo, a headline, short description, image and landing-page link. Its appearance does not mean that OpenAI endorses the advertiser. The advertiser buys ad placement, while the user still receives a separate answer to their question.
Europe: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Americas: Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the United States. Asia and Oceania: Australia, India, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea. Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar and Tunisia.
Ads may appear to users on the Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu accounts remain ad-free. OpenAI does not show ads on accounts identified as belonging to people under 18. Advertisers therefore cannot reach every ChatGPT user. An eligible user will not necessarily see an ad with every response; delivery also depends on relevance and available ad opportunities.
For accounts billed in USD, the minimum daily budget is $25. Billing is available per 1,000 impressions (CPM) or per click (CPC). A campaign optimised for conversions (oCPC) is also billed for clicks rather than completed sales. OpenAI suggests an initial maximum CPC bid of $3–$5; this is bidding guidance, not a guaranteed click price.
The daily budget is averaged over a seven-day period. With a $25 setting, spend may reach $50 on a single day but will not exceed $175 over the relevant seven-day period. The high entry thresholds reported during the early pilot are not the current self-service minimum.
The system considers the context and intent of the conversation, the ad creative and the landing page. Advertisers can add contextual guidance describing situations, topics or words related to their offer. This does not work like exact-match keywords and does not guarantee delivery next to a particular question. If a user enables personalisation, the system may consider additional signals from their ChatGPT activity. In the US, advertisers can also target supported locations such as states, designated market areas and ZIP codes; availability is shown in Ads Manager.
No. According to OpenAI’s policies, ads do not influence ChatGPT’s answers. The advertising system operates separately, and buying an ad cannot change a response or determine the order of recommendations. Paid placement can provide visibility in a sponsored position, but it does not buy an organic brand recommendation. This distinction matters when setting campaign expectations.
OpenAI states that it does not sell user data to advertisers or share conversations, chat history, memories or personal information with them. Advertisers receive aggregated performance information such as impressions and clicks. The advertising system’s use of context does not mean that conversation content is shared with a company. If a user sends a message directly to an advertiser through an ad, the company will see that message.
Ads Manager reports impressions, clicks, spend, click-through rate (CTR), average CPC and CPM, and conversions once tracking is configured. Links can include UTM parameters so traffic is identifiable in external analytics. Clicks alone do not prove sales performance; you need to define and measure a specific outcome such as a purchase or qualified enquiry.
OpenAI says that broad performance benchmarks across advertisers, industries and campaign types are not yet available. Profitability should therefore be assessed against your own customer acquisition cost and sales value rather than a universal return-on-ad-spend promise.
OpenAI permits categories including consumer and home products, local services, travel, entertainment, digital products and education. Restrictions apply to areas such as alcohol, tobacco, gambling and political advertising. Finance, healthcare and legal services are not necessarily banned outright: in the US, selected ads may be allowed when detailed conditions are met. Legal-service advertisers must hold the appropriate licence in the target jurisdiction.
Review covers both the ad and its landing page. An eligible industry is not automatically allowed next to every conversation; personal health discussions and other sensitive contexts remain protected.
